Selected Strategic & Leadership Accomplishments  
  Successfully restructured 40+ staff in 6 different organizations into three customer-focused business units. Restructured unit handled 40% more customer demand with no new resources in the first 18 months.  
  Planned and implemented a market-facing Customer Call Center for prospective and current users of University Outreach services. Center serves more than 7500 customers annually via, phone, fax, email and web-based services.  
  Organized technical team to interconnect UT & the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for video/voice/data via fiber optic link.  
  Ongoing strategic and financial responsibility for Information Services Group - hardware & software support for a statewide local area network serving 250+ users.  
  Strategic and financial responsibility for Marketing Services Group through 1999 - providing print and electronic media planning, development, and management of publicity, client brochures and $400,000+ annual budget of radio/television/billboard and newspaper media buys.  
  Ongoing strategic and financial responsibility for Telemedia Services Group - providing technical development and operation of UT Knoxvilleís five interactive video classrooms, assisting faculty and students with 80+ credit course hours weekly.  
  Designed & implemented UTís first LAN-based project-centered cost accounting software database with reconciliation to Universityís existing fund accounting system. Tracks revenue, expenditures, inventory/assets, student records and scheduling for 8 departments, $11 million in program gross, and 250+ projects annually.  
  Developed strategic expense, revenue and billback financial models for statewide digital network, commercial video and satellite charge back system, and academic cost basis for various statewide and regional academic degree programs. Provided strategic and financial planning information to Governorís Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC).

bullet Blended Service Oriented Architectural (SOA) designs with Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) tools to create a unique strategy for migrating legacy customized application software to a new platform.
bullet On core proposal committee and three member presentation team for successful $3 million contract for three year Physician Executive MBA program offered by UT Knoxville College of Business to Columbia Healthcare/ HCA. Later converted to nationally offered Executive MBA delivered 50% by distance education. Project based on 60% Internet-based delivery with significant use of voice-over-ip technology. First such program in the nation.
bullet Designed, budgeted and implemented four interactive compressed video, multimedia-based academic classrooms, and renovated a 4th. Total budget: $950,000.
bullet Created & supervised the University of Tennesseeís (UT) 2nd largest World Wide Web site with on-line distance learning catalogs and resources. Awarded multiple Internet awards for high visitation and design. 
bullet One of 3 key developers of UTís Distance Education two-way video interactive program from start in 1992 to serving 4,200 learners annually on one of the nationís largest academic digital networks.
bullet Renovated audio/visual, registration, and computing infrastructure for Universityís Conference Center serving 70,000 people annually.
bullet Designed & implemented UTís first statewide T-1 based, TCP/IP and IPX protocol wide area network comprising multiple Netware servers and Sun Microsystems UNIX Internet web & mail servers.
bullet Implemented UTís largest Groupwise email & groupware software system - serving over 350 faculty, staff and students on IBM, Macintosh and UNIX platforms connected to the Internet.
bullet Project manager for conversion of strategic management simulation to multimedia/Internet-delivered format, changing audience from local groups to global reception. Technical and business process architect for UTís Internet-based Marketplace global business simulation.
bullet Designed and implemented four new computer training & multimedia labs across state for credit and not-for-credit distance learning programs. Assisted in faculty development training and curriculum redesign for various materials.
bullet Planned and coordinated in-house computer training classes for UT staff, students and administrators, covering basic computing skills, database development, connectivity topics and accounting topics. Personally developed curriculum and taught multiple classes, including a month long Internet training course on local NBC broadcast affiliate in 1995.
bullet Bid, designed & supervised $400,000 Federal statistical software development subcontract for US Environmental Protection Agencyís Superfund/RCRA program. EPA's Groundwater Information Tracking System/Statistic Software (GRITS/STAT) is in wide use at waste management facilities implementing groundwater monitoring requirements under the RCRA Subtitle C (hazardous waste) and RCRA Subtitle D (municipal waste) programs. GRITS/STAT is today used at sites conducting groundwater monitoring to store, analyze and report groundwater data, and to conduct statistical tests to determine if regulatory thresholds have been met or exceeded.  
 bullet Planned and supervised introduction of desktop computers and Internet functionality to hundreds of new users during the 1980s and 1990s
